Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.

The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to win a title is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the title with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to control a shot after a lengthy match.
