Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism made him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
